2010 Fishing Reports

Sorry guys my Internet at home is gone. We are trying to get it fixed but I went to the river with Jake again last night. I had 4 bites but caught 1 and uncle Donnie caught 1 small flathead. My flathead weighted 6-7 pounds but hit really hard. He took off with the clicker pretty fast and steady. I will post pics when I go to my grandmas.

Thanks Scott, Andrew, and Greg. Sorry I haven't been around. My neighbors didn't pay their internet bill. We went back again but couldn't fish where we had been so we went by the boat ramp. We don't have much luck there but we came all the way out here with bait and everything so might as well. I caught 2 small ones. One was a channel and one was a flathead. Then the gar moved in and the cats stopped biting but that gar were keeping us entertained. Every couple minutes we would get bites and I had a pole with a bobber on it that I casted out between the two docks. By the time the gar had pulled all the slack out and started slipping the clicker they were swimming full force so the silence would be interrupted by a screaming clicker. I also caught a baby drum in the throw net trying to get some fresh bait. I casted him out there but nothing ever bothered him. Here are the 2 little ones I caught. The channel had some nasty scars on him.

Sorry guys but as you know my internet is out. I have still been fishing and picking up a few here and there. I caught the flathead again on a live rock bass and a 24 inch bass also on a live rock bass. Last night I had a 29 inch channel but other than those 3 they have all been small. Hopefully the internet will be back before long so I can keep this updated more.

We spent the whole day up at Lake Jericho today and they just wouldn't bite. 9 hours of fishing and only 1 bullhead about 3-4 inches and 1 crappie about 6-7 inches. I was really hoping the carp would bite but I guess not.

Sorry to hear you didn't do very good fishing, Willy. At least you've been able to go fishing. Still haven't been able to go since the middle of May. Been too busy with normal every day life things. Hopefully it will slow down here soon so we can get some fishing in before the weather gets too cold!

Brother in law and I went out this morning for a few hours, sat out in the hot sun and melted down. We caught a few bullies and several drum perch around a lb or so. All cleaned and in the freezer, brother in law said another trip and we will have enough meat to cook up. sure hope so, getting hungry.

The last fishing trip I took was the one to Jericho. It has been too dang hot to do much. About the only thing I have been doing here lately is shooting. Burned up a few hundreds 22s and 2 boxes of 22 mags. Here before too long I need to go pick up a new scope for my 270 and a bunch of shells. At Paul's new house there is a good flat spot all the way across the back. There is nothing behind it but he going to build a back stop anyway and we are going to put a picnic table back there. Then I can go sight in both of my 270s and both muzzleloaders. If things go right there will probably be a couple 30-06s, a 243, and a 308 also.

around here every bodys pretty much scared to fish at night includeing us ....skeeters are so dang bad ...before u could bait up ud b ate alive ,,,an skeeter spray aint working !!!

Well since I was gone I have been catching alot of fish just no big ones. I haven't caught the flathead since May and none of the bigger channels in a while. I'm going to go get about a dozen bluegill and go try here in a minute. I haven't been fishing much but I have the area around the pond all cleaned out. I cut out a few little trees and mowed completely around it instead of just clearing one spot. Last night while I was over there I only caught three and nearly had one rod pulled in sitting right beside me.

I didn't do any good over there last night. I just noticed I said I hadn't caught the flathead since May. The last time I caught him was in July.

I went over to the rod and gun club today for a few hours after school. I caught 9, missed 6, handed one off, and caught a big softshell turtle. I kept 6 for the freezer. I figure 6 would be enough for us me, dad, and my 2 grandpa's. I have a tournament to go to Saturday from 5 PM-1AM. Wish me luck.

Thanks Greg. Here is a pic of the fish before I cleaned them. I will get a pic of that turtle before I clean him. I have caught alot of bigger ones in Florida but this is the biggest I have ever caught in KY.

Thanks Greg. The tournament was pretty much a blowout. I got first place and there was nobody even close to me. I caught 22 fish for a total of 58 pounds 10 ounces (which nobody has ever caught that many fish in a 12 hour tournament and I did it in . I missed 20, broke a hook, and had 4 that bit while I was talking to Troy but let go before I got to the rod. I only kept 4 though.
