Fishing with mom last weekend.

Headed out bright and early last Sunday morning, picked up mom about 6 a.m., and headed 75 miles south to a lake in the southern part of Iowa. I've fished it a few times myself, but wanted to take mom, as they have some excellent panfish in there. We didn't have any luck with crappies, but managed to catch some pretty nice bluegills. It took a while to get started, but once they got going we ended up with 2 dozen nice ones.







High point of the day for mom was when she tied into this 5 1/2 lb cat. In her words,"the biggest damn fish I've ever caught!" She just fishes for panfish, so it probably was. It was a little touch and go getting it in with her light action Ugly Stick and 6 lb line, but I got it into the net!



It was a great day fishing with mom, weather was beautiful, caught some fish, and saw some different country. Doesn't get much better than that.

Wow that looked like alot of fun for your mom and that cat oh what fun to catch those on light tackle even more when it's not expected, congrats on the nice fish to both.
