GREELEY - A man convicted last month of murdering a transgender teenager was sentenced Friday to an additional 60 years in prison.
In April, a jury found Allen Andrade guilty of first degree murder and a hate crime in the death of Angie Zapata, an 18-year-old transgender teen.
Immediately after the verdict, Andrade was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the first degree murder conviction.
The 60 years tacked on to the sentence Friday was for the hate crime charge and two other charges.
The judge in the case told Andrade he chose the wrong path and he had the skills to succeed, but chose not to use them.
