I Don't Think That It Anything To Do With Being Picky, But It Has Alot To Do With What Your Lake Holds For The Size Of The Fish. I Fish Alot Of Lakes That You Are Lucky To Catch A Perch Over 4 Inches And I Mean Catch Bucket Fulls, But I Also Fish A Few Lakes That Have 10 Inch Perch Easy With Some Bigger. The Lakes That Have The Big Ones Is Not Only Do To What The Lake Has To Offer Game Fish Food But Also The Release Of These Fish To Grow Up, And The Lakes That Have All The Small Ones In Is Because Of Poor Management Such As Stocky The Lake With Game Fish To Control The Population Of The Perch. There Are Several Ways Of Looking At This But It All Revolves Around Common Sense And What And How The DNR Manages The Waters You Are Fishing.
PS Even I Keep Small Perch I Use Them For Pickled Fish, And The Cats Like The Carcasses Also Because There Small.
