Actually a interstate highway does not have to be a highway at all.....I can't remember it all from school but what I do remember is that it's some kind of federal act from the 1950's....That's about all I can remember..I'm gettin old....LOL....

The highway,interstate was put into place to move military and equipment during war if need be.One mile in every five is staright and level so it could be used for runways.
