Start Of The 2010 Gardening Year

Today we got down to the garden and got busy with the tilling and the weather was awesome for doing so to.
Here is the old lady pulling the old tomato plants and getting the cans and stuff moved and the vines in the pile.



Me and my son josh was doing the tilling.




Finished up with the tilling, now just have to do a bit of racking.

What was funny was these vultures were circling over head for a while when we were tilling. lol

how much ya get /qurts of ? last year ....was it worth all of ur hard work ??

We got almost 200 quarts of tomato's, and lots and lots of veggie's that went in the freezer that is just about gone already yep it was well worth it for many reasons.

Remember we also give to the nursing home here in town, the folks there wait for us to come when things start to produce in the garden, man there is nothing better than to see their faces light up when you bring fresh veggie's.

Yep, Mike has donated fresh veggies to the nursing home since I've known him. Next year, when I'm able to have a garden, I will be donating, as well has having a table set up for fresh produce!~! I can't wait!~!

Great start, Mike!~! Yep, gardening is a lot of work, but it is well worth it in the end, for many, many reasons!~!

Bought this at a garage sale and man what a back saver it is, It's an old monkey wards one but it works great so far, there was 6 plates that came with it and i can plant just about everything well i can plant anything that i want i guess as each plate plants like 5 different things.

They are in full leaves now after the rain the last few days it's crazy how much things change after a rain including the weeds in the garden.

I think i will take a couple more when i go down there tonight to water the new plants, the whole garden is planted now and there are no empty spots left to plant any more.

Here are some pics that i just took, i had to go down to the garden and get 45 buckets to get the bottoms cut out so i can get them on the new planted plants before the wind destroys them. We are in a wind advisory right now for wind gusts to 45 miles per hour, our winds are right now blowing at 30 mph with gusts to 39 mph it sucks.

Holy Crap!!....Thats alot of tomatoes!

Well it's been raining off and on for the last week and have been unable to get in the garden to weed things, or to even mow the yard and garden we haven't been able to do tat either. Here are a few pics.
Beans (Green and Yellow) in the right side rows, And Peas in the left side rows.

Here is 3 kinds of radishes, The ones on the right will be white with a purple center, the others on the left side are red globe radishes but will get 2 different sizes.

Now the onions really look ruff because of the weeds but once we get them pulled i will give you and update, The ones on the on the right are giant white spanish globe onion, they will get the size of softballs, the ones on the left are Bermuda's and didn't do to good so we planted some yellows in the just before the rain and we are waiting till they come up.

The onions on the left are Walla Walla onions and they will get softball size and bigger yum.

there are some other plants there on the left, them are my cabbage and my Brussel sprouts.

I will get other pics of the tomato's the next time, most are just coming over the tops of the cans so you wouldn't be able to see anything but the cans anyways. lolol

Its looking start to getting grow as like my dads garden.. Great pics!

Dang, Mike, that's impressive. When we come up this year, I might have to slip down just to check out your garden.
