| I have seen many shore and boat anglers fighting to get their snags out. When watching them I have noticed how many times they get snagged up when reeling their lines in. They have to remember that when the reeling back their lines most often they are dragging their hooks across the bottom just waiting for the first snag to grab a hold. Remember this simple step when your going to reel in your line. Snap the rod tip up and keep it up while reeling fast keeping the hook of the bottom. This will help cut down the number of snags you get, and save on your tackle bill. | |

| Good advice and will practice it more, I seem to get snaged at least once each time out. | |

Yep even though there heavy they as like a plainer board so they come in out of the snags pretty good. | |

| When I was a kid living in California we used to fish off the bank for Stripers up in the Sacramento River Delta area and also in the Oakland-Sanfrancisco bay. We used to buy sinkers that had a big sheet metal disc on them. They must have had a special jig for making these. They were like a regular cannonball type sinker, but right down the middle of them was this disc cast into them. The hole for attatching your line was at the opposite end from the actual sinker. I'm just guessing but Iwould say that a sinker that would weigh 6 or 8 ounces would have a thin metal disc molded into it about the diameter of a coffee cup. They acted just like an airplane wing and as soon as you started to reel they had so much surface area that they would come right up off the bottom. We never got hung up using those things. Haven't seen them since I was 14 or 15 years old though. Jim | |

| I use spoon sinkers and reel them in quick and they come right on up and I have lost maybe one tenth as many sinkers as I use to. | |
