Canning season 2009 is starting

Canning season 2009 is starting to get into a good roll now, we have been doing pickles and carrots and corn and tomato's and beans and it is still early here is a pic so far for this season that we done yesterday and today.

The tomato's are not in the pic, but we did get 5 quarts, i will get some pics of the beans tomorrow some time and get them posted also.

Here is a pic of the Turnips, yellow wax beans, green beans, and peas that we have put up for the winter in freezer bags.

Man do those look good!~! I miss home canned food, that's for sure!

Well the last few days have been a real busy time here on the home front and i haven't had much time to do very much, we have been canning tomato's and carrots. Well there is only 22 quarts of tomato's in the picture but we gave my mom 4 quarts for so hotdish she made so there was 26.

There was only 8 quarts of carrots that we canned last night but it was a long day yesterday with the birthday party so it was a lot of work.

These tomato's will be next in line when we can the next time.


Were working on these pickles today and getting them out of the way, not sure what we are going to make out of them but i do know that we are going to bring some of them to the nursing home in town this morning.

Looking good bud...Iknow where to come and eat if I'm ever in Minnesota.

Think I will start packing up now and just go visit Mike for the winter, NOT, way to cold up there for me, but all that sure does look good.

:c040:Looks very good, Mike and Beth! You both have been working your butts off to make this bigger garden a success! To me, it looks like you have both succeeded in this! Congrats! I know it's a lot of work, but the rewards you get out of having fresh fruits and veggies are worth every second spent on them!

Preparing the dill for the pickles, Beth has done a awesome job on the pickles i just help when she calls me to deal with the hot stuff and to tighten the lids down for the hot water bath.

These will be next in the canner in a day or 2.

Looks like some fine eating is in store for this winter.
