| -- between Grand Detour and Sterling. Sgt. Carl Lewis of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources says they're trying to determine if the run off from a train derailment in the Rockford area got into the Kishaukee River, which flows into the Rock River. That train was carrying ethanol, and Friday's derailment caused an explosion that killed one person. The Department of Natural Resources is working with the state Environmental Protection Agency and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. The state is advising the public not to eat fish from the Rock River in Ogle, Lee and Whiteside counties until the cause of the fish kill is determined. | |

| Well that is obvious what killed the fish, it don't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. | |

| Yep yep Mike...... I bet the people that own property, houses etc. their taxes are going to go up to pay for this. This really sucks that something like that happened. Apparently they weren't inspecting the tracks etc. like they were supposed to either. I feel that if they had been inspecting it, they would have found out that there was errosion and would have shut the tracks down to fix it. | |

| Well even if they weren't inspecting it, they should have built it so that if anything like this happened it would have been contained rather than running into the rivers and trust me it will get into the drinking water. | |
