| Well john hope some one chimes in on this because im not a musky fisherman, the best that i can tell ya is that they are in the northern family but the musky has 4 different blood lines. clear muskellunge spotted muskellunge barred muskellunge tiger muskellunge and there all different and more difficult than the pike to catch that is the reason the call the musky the fish of 10,000 casts. this is a very good post and would like to hear some other info on this thanks for the post john. | |

I'll look at this...How big does a Musky get compared to a Pike? Which one is the best eating? Which one is more numerous? Which one is sought out by fishermen the most? Thats what I want to know.

| Hello John, from here in Michigan the musky is better eating than pike. But that's just my own preference. Average muskies here can get 40 - 50 lbs and a trophy pike here is usually about 20 lbs. I've never been that lucky to snag a 20 lbs pike. The biggest muskie I have speared was 45 lbs and he's on my wall. As far as numerous, I think pike are far more numerous than muskies. | |

| YW John, Ice fishing is my favorite when it comes to the big fish. I personally have never fished a muskie on a line, but I hear that's when those big guys fight. Now in spearing, it all depends on where you hit them at. You gotta get em right behind the head because you don't want too much of a ruckus in the shanty or there could be bad problems. lol | |

Well,I never knew anything about Ice Fishing but one day Mike showed me a pic of this huge musky or pike ..He filmed it through an Ice Hole and the water was so clear that it gave you a great view of the fish..I've been hooked ever since.

| I worked with a guy that all he could think about was Miskies. This was in Michigan. The rest of us would plan a deer hunt but not this guy. His vacations were centered on Musies and he would journey to the UP of Michigan to do that. A one track mind. Nice guy though even if he was self centered. | |

| The musky is the bigger of the pike family. The musky has verical bars or strips down its sides. the northern has a spotted sides. the tiger musky is a cross between A musky and a northern pike. | |
