Well, the new portable I bought this year is has the canvas top fastened to the sled with little snap hooks. So, I unsnapped them, folded the canvas and put it in a snap lock plastic tote. That should assure me of no mouse holes come winter. At first I wasn't crazy about the snaps, but it is handy for storage. I've also been starting my power auger once a month and letting it run for a few minutes. I don't know if that helps, but I figure it sure can't hurt.

Some people put bars of soap in their boats to keep the mice out during storage. Darn, I have forgotten the brand of soap bars. It is kind of an off brand of soap. I may think of it later or see some in the store.

If you can get hold of hedge apples and put them in the corners of your shanty, the mice won't go in.
