EVENTS

May 20 – Presentation featuring Bryan Wilmer and Conway Marvin of Outdoor Connection, 6 to 9 p.m., Sportsman’s Taxidermy Studio, East Grand Forks. Open to anyone looking for a place to hunt or fish. No charge, food and beverages provided. Info: (218) 773-7972.

June 7 – Red River Rendezvous, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Red River State Recreation Area, East Grand Forks. Historic camping gear displays and re-enactments, Coon & Crockett Club demonstrators, wood carvers, food samples, live music and more. Park permits won’t be required during the open-house event. June 27-28 – Red River shoreline cleanup, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, sponsored by Keepers of the Reds. June 27 will focus on river north of Riverside Dam; meet at the north boat ramp. June 28 will focus on the river south of the dam and the Red Lake River up to the Point Dam; meet at the LaFave Park boat landing in East Grand Forks. RED RIVER CATFISH LEAGUE

League nights are 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays through mid-July, river levels permitting, 25 boats maximum, registration/signup at the river. Fishing will be canceled if the river level in Grand Forks is higher than 20 feet. For more information on Catfish League events, fees etc., contact Kevin Boushee at (218) 791-6001.

OUTDOOR LEARNING

May 16 – Annual spring bird survey, 8 a.m. to noon, Lake Bemidji State Park. Fee is $8, which includes a camp breakfast after the survey. Registration required. Info: (218) 308-2300.

May 16 – “Breakfast with the Birds,” 8 a.m., Hayes Lake State Park, Minn. Friends of Hayes Lake State Park will serve a campfire breakfast, and park staff after that will lead a guided birding tour. Cost is $8, with proceeds going to future Friends of Hayes Lake projects, plus a park entrance sticker that costs $5 daily or $25 annually. Reservations are required.
