| What a top notch fish right there, congrats Robbie on the awesome catch i bet it was a blast bringing that in. Are the waters finally going down there or are they still high, that would make the Flathead hunt a little tougher not to mention bringing one in when the water is running so hard and high. Thanks for sharing the pic with us Robbie. | |

| Actually I fish several lakes so current is not a factor. They are flood control lakes so water levels have been up and down with rains. The lake I fished Friday was high for a week as they held back water to prevent flooding downstream. It just got to pool level on Sat so I guess the water was dropping.
It is always difficult to catch trophy size fish but a glut of shad has hindered my success for 3 years. I thought surely the population levels had peaked and would return to normal levels but I have observed shad spawning twice this year and they may have spawned more.
The larger the fish the later in the year they are able to sustain their selves on shad. I'm just hoping the bigger fish will soon find it necessary to hunt instead of ambushing the shad. | |
