How did you start fishing was it a parent or a friend, or a relative is the question ???

I can remember back to about when i was 5 or 6 years old (1968-1969) and standing at a lake with my parents catching bullheads and sunfish one right after another till the 5 gallon buckets were filled to the top with fish. We went fishing a lot, well lets just say most weekends we were some were fishing whether it be at the lake or the Minnesota river. That is also about the time i learned to catfish was when we went to the Minnesota and caught channel cats all day long with family and friends, then head home and clean fish till late at night but i also remember the rewards were awesome when it came time to eat fish. After i turned 16 and was able to drive legal and i had my own car 1965 Ford galaxy 500 it was hard to find me unless you knew were i fished, lolol if i was at the river it would take upwards of a day to find me unless i told ya were to look. Anyways it was with my Parents and there alot of very fond memories that i will cherish the rest of my life.
cheers cheers cheers

I started fishing with my dad. The first fish I ever caught by myself was a little catfish when I was 30 months old at Lake Jericho. I don't remember actually catching it but I do remember being up at the check in station for a picture and dad was trying to get me to hold it. I finally did hold it and I remember I was real shy and didn't want my picture taken. The lady still teases me about it.

My dad and grandpa taught me everything i know about salt and freshwater fishing.... I picked up more in my 20's...I really started paying attention to stuff like the time of year that certain fish were biting and on what tides/moon phases....I took it a step further and looked at other things such as more dead skunks in the fall so the skunks were on the move at the same time as redfish....The monarch butterflies were headed south as well....When all these factors fell into place me, dad and grandpa would usually walk out of the the fishing hole with 2 or 3 nice reds and a cooler full of blues....on occasion we would get blues/reds/flounder/whiting/spanish/speckled trout all in one trip...talk about a nice Sunday dinner...Those were the good old days fore sure...I wish I could go back there now sometimes.

I grew up fishing with my Mom. We would go camping/fishing mostly every weekend in the summer. If we weren't seasonal campers at a certain place, we would go to Harrison Lake State Park. I can remember night fishing above the dam or around what they call the "horseshoe." I can remember one night fishing above the dam, my mom got a hold of a good fish. When she got it to the edge of the water and took a closer look at it, and she said...... It's G-G-G-G- GOLD!~! Yes, my mother caught a goldfish. We had became friends with the park ranger in previous years. The next morning, Ranger Rick, (Rick was his real name), came to do his morning rounds. We were talking to him about this and showed him the fish in a cooler on ice. He said that wasn't the first "goldfish" that had been caught in Harrison Lake. He proceeded to tell us that a gentleman living not too far from the lake had a goldfish pond, that he had for bait fish. Well, the pond became too over populated. So where did he dump the goldfish? You got it, right into Harrison Lake!~!
