200 Pigs Die After Semi Rollover Crash, Driver Airlifted

YELLOW MEDICINE CTY., Minn. - 200 pigs died Friday morning after a semi rolled over on County Road 9, about 5 miles south of Highway 67 in Yellow Medicine County.

Authorities had to close down the road and wrangle the remaining pigs for at least an hour. About 400 pigs survived the crash.

The 200 deceased pigs were taking to Central Biproducts in North Redwood Falls.

Yellow Medicine County dispatch received the call around 10:30 a.m. The caller stated that a semi hauling pigs had rolled over and that the pigs were out of the trailer.

The driver, 51-year-old Armando Rodriguez Sr. of Hanley Falls was airlifted from the scene.

His condition is unknown.

This gives a new thought to "When Pigs Fly!" LOL Hope the driver will be ok.

I don't understand why the hell the meat could not have been given to charity or some other place in need to give to the poor or people that don't have the money for food. It is not like the pigs were made into burger from this they were just injured and they were not contaminated in any way from what i heard on the tv, heck most were still running around i just don't get it.

The place that they were sent to is were they take dead animals to be made into dog food, i use to live about 30 miles from that place what a smell let me tell ya.

I guess they were afraid of getting sued. Aload of frozzen catfish turned over close to here and people were trying to pick them up. The law made the put them back and they took a backhoe and burried all of the fish on the side of the road. What a waste.
