The sniffling is starting! Doctors tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they started seeing high pollen counts two weeks earlier than usual.
Dr. Philip Halverson of Allergy and Asthma Specialists, P.A. said in Minnesota tree pollens usually start to appear in April and May.
He said, 'This year we've been surprised by the appearance of tree pollen by mid-March."
He said not only has the polled arrived early, the counts are higher than in previous years.
The last couple of weeks, the tree pollen count was in the 200 to 400 range. Tuesday it shot up to more than 1,700. The National Allergy Bureau considers that very high.
