North Star Garden Update.

Here Is another update to how is my garden doing since the last update, we have had some pretty hot weather the last couple weeks so there was little work done as far as weeds go. Well that changed yesterday and today and we got it all weeded, we were going to water it tonight but we have some rain coming in so were not here are some pictures of the last couple days.




I always like the kids in the garden learning the tricks and trade of growing things, and then seeing the rewards at harvest time.



Here is one of my water tanks and all the 5 gallon buckets full of water that we use at watering time.

We have lots of tomato's i can't wait for some fresh ones to get on the vines.



Pumpkins and squash are doing very well.

We have picked some beets already and ate them so there coming along very well also.

And then there are some that are still being slow and stubborn for us.

The beans are blooming away but are not very big..

The onions are doing awesome this year.


potato's are blooming and are doing very well also.

Radishes and turnips.


The peas are ready to pick as of tomorrow.

It's alot of work but it's fun.

That's quite a farm you have there. I thought my garden was big. I guess everything is bigger in Minnesota eh?

LOL Ridge! Very nice garden, Mike!~! Looks like you will be in fresh produce heaven when things really start to ripen up lol.... Yes, the work is hard, but it is also fun, AND very rewarding at the end!~!

Ok folks we were busy this morning and afternoon getting things taken care of, here is a few pics of the produce we picked today.
Every things seems to be growing great now.

8:00 AM and down in the garden by 8:30 AM and up to the house cleaning the produce we picked today. Then off to town and dropped off radishes and leaf lettuce and a few turnips and zucchini at the elderly home for assisted living, then we dropped some off at the nursing home and then we dropped some off at the apartment build that my mom live in for the elderly. Let me tell ya folks it really gives you a good feeling seeing these people smiling when they see you bringing them fresh produce to enjoy with there meals, i enjoy doing this and i will keep doing this till im either there or gone.
The Zucchini is doing great as Ridge said, we picked and got rid of 7 today, here are a few pictures.





The tomato's are doing well also each plant is loaded with green tomato's.


The peppers are doing well also (Bell, Banana, so far)



Pickles are starting up to.

Red beets are getting to be monsters and soon will be pickled.

This is what we picked and gave to the old folks in town, i sure enjoy seeing that smile on there face.

LOLOL Mike.... Like grandfather like grandson, hey????? Always opening that mouth and inserting foot eheheeh!~!~! Produce looks great!~! I can imagine the feeling when you take the elderly fresh produce! They are more than likely like kids in a candy store!~!

Mike you have a great garden. all I have left of mine is my hot peppers(7 pot) and japanese egg plants.

Great lookin garden bro, knowing the old folks love to see ya'll coming.

The only thing i have ever done with green tomato's is made jam out of them.

Fried green tomatoes are NASTY!~! LOL

You dont want to pick them too early when theyre green...let them getsome size tothem then when you get ready to fry them you gotta slice the thin....Season the mater and the flour/meal.

Here is what we picked on Saturday and all we kept was the beans on this batch.

We picked and brought some more produce to the nursing home.





I didn't get any pictures, but we also had 4 one gallon bags of leaf lettuce we also brought to the nursing home and to the apartment building were my mom lives.

Looking good, Mike! I bet the elderly folks just love you and are just waiting to see you pull in again as they will know that you have some more produce for them...

I was kinda funny the other day when we stopped in to bring more produce, they were all sitting outside and we could hear them talking to the visitors saying that we bring good food there, that really makes a person feel good to hear things like that.

I'm sure it does, Mike! There's nothing like putting smiles on peoples faces, especially the elderly!
