| A 43-year-old Far East Side man was found dead yesterday evening in the Big Walnut Creek after a day of fishing.
He apparently had heart trouble or other medical problems and fell into the water, said Columbus homicide detective Michael Higgins.
"It doesn't appear to be any foul play," Higgins said
Police did not release the victim's name, but family members identified him as Bernard Gannon.
"He was a great guy and loved to fish," said Mary Wilson, his sister-in-law.
Gannon was found on a bank of Noe-Bixby Park at the corner of Noe-Bixby Road and Carbondale Drive by his son, who was expecting him to return home.
He had a favorite spot on the east bank of the creek, near where his son found him, relatives said.
Shocked relatives huddled in the park consoling one another last night. | |

| Well at least he went out of this world doing something he really loved to do, not many get that chance in life. | |

| I really can't think of a better place to check out of here myself. One of my friends dad died on the bank of a heart attack and when they went and found him he still had a 10lb channel on his pole. | |
