| I've been craving some boiled peanuts so i bought 8 pounds yesterday at the fruit/veggie stand....This pic shows the first stage of heating and soaking with a little spice.....Started them at 11 AM today and they will not be ready until tommorrow at 2 or so in the afternoon....I'll heat them several times to a boil and let them sit then I will boil then hard for 3 hours at the end and make sure the seasoniong is right then let then sit one more time for 2 or 3 hours before I bag and freeze some of them....Will add more pics as I go. | |

| Eat them....they are excellent snack food...Go great with a cold pepsi or a cold beer....Lots of folks up north i have spoken to do not like them...i think that its because they were not born and raised around boiled peanuts like I have been....Also some folks do not know good recipes for boiled peanuts and a first time taste test can kill it for a first timer if they taste bad.....if you get to try them just remember they will not taste like a roasted peanut...they taste more like a bean. | |

| I wonder if they taste sort of like a soybean? We poach and roast soybeans here and they are awesome! They are also a VERY healthy snack food! | |

| All the times I have been to Florida I have never tried them. I have not liked anything made of soy that I have ever tried. Deer like them though... | |

| Back to the boiled peanut thing....I might be able to can a couple of quarts and send them by mail...Not sure if they would make it or be broken.....I'll try that in a month or 2.....I might have to get some styrofoam and packing materials to cushion it for the ride. | |

| The peanuts have soaked up enough water now so they dont float so its time for extra spice to get them ready for the last boil in the morning...i added about half a cup of crushed peppers for some mild heat plus adjusted the salt content. | |

Were they out of the cooler section of the store or out of a pot of hot brine water? PS...not everyone can cook them right. | |
