Two of Greece's most wanted men have staged a daring helicopter escape from Athens' highest-security prison - for the second time in three years.
Armed robber and kidnapper Vassilis Paleokostas and his Albanian offsider Alket Rizaj were days away from standing trial for their escape in 2006.
They fled the prison after a helicopter landed on the jail's roof and threw them a rope ladder.
Three years ago both men managed to escape when a hijacked helicopter landed in the prison yard at exercise time.
The helicopter from the current escape bid was later found abandoned in the Kapandriti region, north of Athens.
The country's enraged justice minister Nicos Dendias has stormed off to the jail and demanded that heads roll.
Among the casualties are two high-level officials from Greece's justice ministry and several senior figures in the prison service, including the jail's director and the inspector for Greece's penitentiary system.
