O.K. I Know This Is Old News To Some People, But When Winter Comes Around Here In Minnesota Battery Connections Heck Just Keeping Your Battery Good Can Be A Chore. One Of The Best Things You Can Do Is Smear Some Grease On The Battery Connections, This Will Even Work Good In The Summer So It Is A Year Around Thing That Should Be Done To Keep The Terminals from corroding and preventing A Good Connection Needed To Start Your Car. In Minnesota When It Is -20 Degrees It Really Sucks When Some Thing So Simple That You Could Have Done Leaves You Sitting Along Side The Road Freezing Your Butt Off Or Worse Your Family And Kids Could Be With. pale affraid

In a pinch you can pour coke on the connections and it will eat through the crud and get you going!

Ahhhhhhhhh yes; I got in the habit of doing that in Michigan over all the years and so I continue the process even here in Florida. Vechicles, boat, mower and anything else. And I agree that in the North Country solid connections available for a high current draw is a necessary requirement if you want to have reliable starts.

Those little red and green felt washers really do work and they cost less than a dollar. I put them on every battery I install and never have to worry about corrosion again.

Be careful pouring anything on the battery. If it has a crack the soda can leak into the cells and neutralize them.
