| I'm completely the other way around. Normally have my best catches of crappie and bluegill on tiny twister jigs and panther martin spinners. The places I fish it is hard to carry and keep live bait. Mostly fish old strip mine ponds and farm ponds. Have walked as much as 8 miles in a day going pond to pond. Below is a link to one of my favorite area to fish. http://www.aep.com/environmental/recreation/recland/default.htm | |

| Mike, when we are up there, sometimes we use waxies, somethimes worms, but my favorite is small leeches. Seems like it's a lot harder for the fish to clean the hook, and I can usually catch several fish on a small piece of leech. Crappies like them too. If I'm fishing strictly for crappies, I like minnows. I use plastics some, but I have more faith in the real thing. | |

|
Show us a pic if you have one Tessie.
Here ya go John....The Electric Chicken.... A predominate color in the "Road Runner" box was pink...it made sense to combine the number one color in fishing lures (chartreuse) with pink, nicknamed “Electric Chicken. The contrast and the opaque color combination is hard for crappie to resist. The Electric Chicken color is available in the 1/16th and 1/8th oz. sizes. And they cost around 2 bucks each.... | |

| Wax worms for ice fishing. Red worms or piece of nightcrawler worms for spring and summer. For Crappie, I use fathead under the bobber. | |

| Here in East Texas, most people don't know what a wax worm is. I went into a bait shop one time & asked them if they had wax worms. They looked at me really weird & said no, what are those, I never heard of them????? I was like I couldn't believe it!~! So here in East Texas, we use the Power Bait Crappie Nibbles or Crappie Candy. They really like the pink & green ones. We put it on a small hook with a bobber. We will also put it on the roadrunner like Tessie showed. They LOVE them. | |
