| Yesterday I Went To The Doctor Because I Have Been Having A Hard Time Walking Because Of My Feet Hurting So Bad. The News I Got I Did Not Like Because There Isn't A Cure For It, All They Can Do Is Help Me With Getting Them So They Don't Hurt So Much When Active. The First Step They Want To Take Is To Make Me A Custom Pad For Me Feet In My Shoes, $$ 300.00 Bucks And My Insurance Don't Want To Pay It And There Thinking Also That I May Have To Do Physical Therapy To Help Stretch The Nerves Every Day. Here Is A Little Write Up About What It Is, I Guess It Is Pretty Comon And Some Folks Have It And Don't Know It And Just Suffer With It, Let Me Tell You This Im Not A Wimp This Crap Really Hurts Fact I Don't Think I Could Get Out Of The House In The Middle Of The Night If There Was A Fire Because I Need Time To Make My Feet Work Because Of The Pain.
Plantar fasciitis
Definition
Do your first few steps out of bed in the morning cause severe pain in your heel? Or does your heel hurt after jogging or playing tennis?
Most commonly, heel pain is caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia — the tissue along the bottom of your foot that connects your heel bone to your toes. The condition is called plantar fasciitis (PLAN-tur fas-e-I-tis).
Plantar fasciitis causes stabbing or burning pain that's usually worse in the morning because the fascia tightens (contracts) overnight. Once your foot limbers up, the pain of plantar fasciitis normally decreases, but it may return after long periods of standing or after getting up from a seated position.
Symptoms
Plantar fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis usually develops gradually, but it can come on suddenly and be severe. And although it can affect both feet, it more often occurs in only one foot at a time. Watch for:
* Sharp pain in the inside part of the bottom of your heel, which may feel like a knife sticking in the bottom of your foot * Heel pain that tends to be worse with the first few steps after awakening, when climbing stairs or when standing on tiptoe * Heel pain after long periods of standing or after getting up from a seated position * Heel pain after, but not usually during, exercise * Mild swelling in your heel

| Try going to a podiatrist, Mike. The wife has that, and she gets a shot once or twice a year that helps alot. Matter of fact, she just got one yesterday. I don't know what it its, but it seems to help. Doc also told her to start wearing arch supports, just the generic ones for 25 bucks a pair. I went through several pairs of the custom made ones over the years, and none of them helped. I had a different problem though, no arch at all, and finally had surgery on both feet, one foot one year and the other the next. I spent two winters on crutches, absolutely no weight on the foot for 12 weeks. It was a pain in the a$$, but at least I can walk without pain most of the time. I can't walk on uneven ground or up and down hills worth a darn, but I'm pretty good on flat ground now. Got 7 screws in one foot and 4 in the other. | |

That Is The Kinda Doctor That I Went To, He's Still Doing His Tests Yet To See Just How Bad It Is Already, I Go Back In A Few Days To See What He Has To Say I Know This It Really Sucks For The Pain It Gives You.

| If you don't get results from this doctor, I'd try another one. I went to 5 or 6 foot doctors over probably a 25 year period, they all sold me their particular high priced arch support, and all told me they would help some, but they would never get any better, just slowly get worse. I honestly had visions of not being able to walk by the time I was 50. Well, I could still walk, but not very fast or far, and the pain would wake me up at nite it was so bad. The last guy I went to told me I had the ugliest feet he'd ever seen, and told me about foot reconstruction. He couldn't do it, but there were 2 doctors in Iowa and one in Rochester that could. He lined me up with one in Des Moines and we set it up. Basically he cut my foot and ankle open and put a couple screws up through my heel and into my ankle to straighten it up, and some screws through the top of my foot towards the back to bring up the arches. I still have some pain, and very little flexibility in my feet, but I'm 100 times better than I was before. If someone had told me about it earlier, I'd have had it done long ago. It doesn't hurt to get someone else's ideas and opinions. | |
