When Shore Fishing Or Fishing From A Fishing Pier/Dock, How Do You Determine The Depth You Will Be Fishing At?

I Am Sure There Are Several Different Ways That People Use, Mine Is When I Cast Out I Count 1001, 1002, 1003 ECT ECT ECT And Can Generally Come To Within A Foot Or 2 And Adjust From There Seems To Work Pretty Good. cheers cheers cheers

Rig up with a slip sinker, then have either one or two hooks and a small float on the end of your line. cast out and reel in till you are hitting the sinker with the bottom hook, then let out a foot at a time until the bobber appears, then you know exactly how deep it is. A piece of tape or a mark with a magic marker on you pole in front of the reel will make sure your doing a foot at a time. All you have to know is how much space is between your leader and the bobber to be accurate. Then if you are in ten foot of water and the fish are biting at 3 foot just let out enough line to put it where you want it to be.
