I lost a $6 Crankbait the other day, that was the 1st in a long time but I decided to do something about it. I looked a Bass Pro and they were about $10 and I said heck I can make one cheaper and still have money to replace my lure.
This is the materials I used, i already had the copper at my shop and I got the eye hooks and chain for 2.20 and got used wheel weight from a tire store.
The assembly begins
I filled it with melted lead which holds the eye hooks firmly in place and for the top one I filled up the tube to the to then drilled a hole in the lead for the eye hook to go into and slide the top on and applied more heat to lock it in place. Both cap ends are also sweated on.
Finished product, I have the openings in the eye hooks for the line opened up enough for the line to slide into them and facing opposite directions so it can't come off.
The line in this pic is not what I'm using, it's just what I hung it up with for the paint to dry
