I Have Never Eaten Rock Bass. It Seems To Me Like They Get A Lot Less Attention On The Fishing Boards Than Sunnies And Crappies. Is This Because They Taste Bad? I Have Heard That Unless You Get Them In The Early Spring Time Or In The Winter Months,,, They Are Wormy In The Warmer Months After Spawning. Question Question Question

Well I caught a few of Rock Bass, them taste fine same as gills.

Heres pic from May 2009 at up north cabin, theres alot of crappies but see a few brown fish.. them are Rock Bass, its panfish, ate them so its went fine as far. Rock Bass are bigger than Bluegills so they can grow up to 14inch so my cousin got 14" Rock Bass on the wall so its pretty monster one..

I don't eat them because most ponds around here don't have enough big ones to eat. They will take over a small pond as quick as anything else and most ponds are stunted. They do make good flathead bait. They stay alive longer and are stronger than gills.
