Post by jerseycat9 on Wed May 20, 2009 1:10 pm

Well guys and girls fishing took a nose dive on Sunday and hasnt recovered as of yet. The air temps yesterday morning were 43 degrees and water temps dropped rapidly going from as high as 74 in some areas down to 67 overnight. The stripers have just plain disappeared from my neck of the woods. I searched high and low for them yesterday and only marked a random stragler here and there on the depth finder and the straglers werent hungry as I ran bait practically across their noses and they wouldnt give chase. I instead decided to give catfish a go and did pretty good caught 8 altogether from 10am till 2pm. Kept 6 of them along with a guthooked striper and bass for the frying pan. I will get y'all some pictures loaded up tonight or tomorrow. All the folks that wanted to fish this week have so far backed out on me so Im flying solo screwem' at least when I do find a hot bite I wont be sharin the fun with a halfstepper LOL

Them fish have already been fried and returned to the earth if ya catch my drift LOL Forgot to mention I was out today for a couple hours from noon till about 3pm working the docks and shorelines behind the house. I caught 7 bass; 3 spotted bass and 4 largemouth. One largemouth was a hefty sucker in the 4+lb range and I was getting ready to set up the camera when DNR come round the corner and gave me and the boat an inspection. Thankfully there was nothing out of place or missing so I didnt snag any tickets. After that it just became to hard and dangerous to fish with all the jetskis and pleasure boaters whipping around back there.

WOW! Great catch, Terry! I can't wait to get into some channel cat fishing myself again! Glad to hear you passed your boat inspection. I wouldn't doubt it a bit about the boats, jetski's etc. on the water this weekend. Thanks for the report, Terry! I always look forward to seeing a post and pics from you!

You know whats funny?? I look at the pic in my last report is only a couple weeks ago and it looks like I ready to hunt polar bear and now all those clothes are packed up till next year. Down here in the South there is no transition from season to season one day your in spring and the next its 90 degrees and stays that way till fall Shocked

Well Peg your kinde right I cleaned up my beard and believe it or not I clean up well and nabbed a 20 year old 105lb fox Smile But I again let it slip away because of my selfish behaviour so now Im back on the water. The boat registration is bad and come to find out it has been illegal since june of last year Shocked I guess I dodged a few bullets as much as I fished during the winter and spring Something about the title and not having it notorized made it illagal from 30 days after purchase "oops". But anywho being the stubborn bastage I am I took it out tonight at dusk bad reg' and all and managed over a dozen solid bites from bass runnin a buzz bait but............ I drank 3 cold ones before I left the house and I think it totally fubared my reaction time cause I only pulled 2 fish from all the solid strikes I had.

Sorry to hear you let your mermaid go, Terry......... Sometimes that happens. Maybe you will have better luck next time! Sorry to hear that you didn't do much good on your fishing this evening. Don't feel bad, most everyone on the board that has been out fishing has caught more fish than I have this year. We also got over 4 inches of rain in less than 12 hours the other night, so it's going to be a about a week yet before we can get back on the river to fish. Thinking about going fishing in the morning. Not sure yet. Will decide once I get up in the morning. Hopefully I will have better luck in the pond tomorrow!

Post by jerseycat9 on Wed Jul 01, 2009 2:21 pm

Well fishing down here has been spotty at best. Went out yesterday with my buddy on his boat for some bassin' and tough aint the word. We hit all the rock piles, shoals and reefs we could find for a whopping 2 fish that when put end over end probably wouldnt have equaled a legal fish lol Ive also been heading out at night throwin topwater baits and been having mixed results either a of bites with few hookups or 1 bite with 1 hookup lol

Today shows promise as I took the little boat for a once around the docks in my area and pulled up 3 nice spotted and missed about 7 others. Talked to my buddy and he said heck lets give the night time bite a go. I will be heading out with him around 5:30 and give it hell till around 11:30 tinight so maybe I can get a few pictures to throw up on my dead report thread Smile
