Fishing Trip 1-21-08 cold and nasty
Fishing trip cold and nasty day LOL
Me and Big Sam were off work so we decided to go fishing. It was a terrible day weather wise and the wind was blowing really strong out of the east with the temp's hovering in the low 30's all day. It sleeted and rained off and on til we decided we had had enough and quit about 1:00 p.m. The water temp's have dropped back to 40 degrees. We met at the ramp at daylight and decided it was just to rough to get out on the lake so we drug the 24 ft. slime mobile up river and done some river fishing on the Arkansas river. We just manage 4 fish total because we were just having to duck out of the wind to even fish in the river. We had to run pretty slow even in the river the front of the pontoon was trying to dip into the waves and freezing onto the front deck. We kept two eaters and released 2 over 10 lbs. One was 32.74 lbs. and one was 14 lbs.
This was the first fish of the day and my PB for 2008, 32.74 lbs.
Then letting it go

Then Big Sam caught this little guy that I later ate for supper

This is Big Sam hamming it up for the camera LOL reeling in a 14 lber

Then releasing it

This is where the 2 we kept ended up. It's a new recipee we tried last night and it was pretty good eating.

Re: Fishing Trip 1-21-08 cold and nasty
Heres the recipe, It was pretty tasty
.
Grilled Catfish Over Mixed Greens
Ingredients
4 Catfish Fillets
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 ½ T balsamic vinegar
3 tsp. Salt
½ tsp. Black pepper
4 cups mixed salad greens, washed and dried
4 ounces white mushrooms, thinly sliced
Directions
Place fillets on a shallow plate. Mix olive oil, vinegar, tarragon, salt and pepper in a small bowl until well blended. Pour two-thirds of the marinade over the catfish. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to marinate. Reserve the remaining marinade to use as salad dressing. Prepare a grill or preheat the broiler to 500 degrees F. Place catfish fillets on an oiled grill rack or broiler pan rack. Grill or broil 4 inches from the heat source for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until fish flakes easily. Remove and allow to cool slightly.... serve warm. Toss salad greens, mushrooms and the reserved marinade in a large bowl. Top with catfish.
The above is the recipe. We didn’t have any mixed greens so we made our own salad. Also instead of cooking on the grill or broiler we cooked it on a George Forman grill for 3 minutes at the maximum temperature of 425 F.
