Probable World Record Catfish

Angler Releases Probable World Record Catfish
See the Pictures
posted January 23, 2008

A TWRA Fisheries Biologist recently distributed this e-mail to his counterparts across the state.

"Attached are a couple of photos of a monster blue catfish caught near Greenville, Mississippi by an elderly man who let the fish go after his wife took the pictures. The weight of the catfish is unknown, though some catfish anglers guessed it to be at least 150 pounds. It looks like 200 pounds to me. For sure it would have been a new world record."

I showed my sister in law that picture of Radish's fish. She wanted to know if he caught it at Jordan Lake. LMAO!

It's certainly a monster.

Awesome fish Radish! it never ceases to amaze me. I don't think it will go for any records Peg. I assume he has the length and girth like you need for it to be a record because he is having the replica made. Besides the length and girth you need the fish to be weighed on certified scales. If John had put them on certified scales they would be estimating the weight, the fish would've had more publicity, and it would all ready be the IGFA all tackle world record blue beating Pruits 124 pound blue also caught out of the Mississippi River, but I think it was somewhere along Illinois.

Now that's a biggie for sure, WTG radish, proud of you for letting it go, I would do the same, to nice to be put in a tank or killed, maybe you will get it again at an even bigger size.
