The walleye is the most sought-after fish in Minnesota. Its thick, white fillets, handsome shape and coloring, and elusive nature make it the ultimate prize among anglers. Each year, anglers in Minnesota keep roughly 3.5 million walleyes totaling 4 million pounds. The average walleye caught and kept is about 14 inches long and weighs slightly more than 1 pound. The walleye is named for its pearlescent eye, which is caused by a reflective layer of pigment, called the tapetum lucidum, that helps ...

Once the muskies have recuperated from the spawn they move from the shallow waters and stage at nearby structure that offers them the forage, cover and deeper water they require. The deeper water is essential. It gives the muskies a sense of security. In case of danger they simply slip into the depths.

In many lakes this area can be the middle or the mouth of a bay. The first good size weed bed near the spawning area that has deeper water nearby is ideal. If the weed is cabbage weed all ...

LIVE-BAITS.

Live Baits Consist Of Using Bait Being Small Or Large Fish That You Are Targeting, And Using What Is Natural To The Waters You Are Fishing To Catch Your Fish. When Fishing Live Bait I Like To Say That The Best Bait That Should Be Used As Far As Size Goes Is No Larger Than 8" Inches, Using This Size Will Also Make It Easier To Hook Your Pike/Musky When Setting The Hook. Live Bait Fishing Is Only Legal If The Bait You Are Using Comes From The Waters You Are Fishing, Be Sure ...

When Fishing For Pike Or Musky It Is Always Important To Think Over The Equipment That Is Needed And What Other Pike/Musky Fisherman Use On A Daily Basis. Here Are A Few Things That You Should Look At When Going After That Fish Of A Life Time, After All When You Work As Hard As You Do To Get This Fish You Should Use The Right Tackle.

1). Always Ensure That You Have The Correct Tackle Necessary Before Starting To Fish For Pike/Musky, Especially A Large Landing Net, Forceps, Strong Wire Cutters, ...

When Live Or Dead-Bait Fishing It Is Important To Correctly Place The Hooks In The Bait In Order To Effectively Hook The Pike/Musky But Also, Importantly, To Minimize The Chances Of Deep Hooking A Pike/Musky. For Most Live-Baiting The Top Hook Goes In The Dorsal And The Other Behind The Pectoral. For Dead-Baits The Top One Goes In The Tail Root And The Other One No Further Forward Than The Dorsal Fin.

Strike As Soon As You Are Sure That The Pike Has The Bait In Its Jaws( This Takes Some Time To Learn So Watch Close ) - If The Float Is Moving, Or The Line Is Running Out If Fishing Without A Float ( My Favorite Way ). Always Assume That The Pike Is Of Large Size And Strike Sooner Rather Than Later.
What Are The Ways That You Prefer To Fish Walleye When Fishing From Shore Whether It Be At A Lake Or At A River.

My Favorite Way Of Fishing Walleye From A Lake Shore Is Using A Floating Jig On A Slip Sinker Rig With A Slow Retrieve. The Area I Like To Do This At Is Either A inlet, Outlet, Or A Sandy Rocky Bottom.

When Fishing From The River Bank I Use The Same Method But I Like To Leave It Sit On The Bottom At The Edge Of The Current Near A Break Or An Inlet To The River. ...

I Like To Use A 20lb Mono When Fishing Pike, And I Use It On A Med/Hev Rod Because Of The Sensitivity That It Has, And If I Really Feel Daring I Use A Medium Action Rod With A 10lb Mono What A Blast When You Get A Good Pike On And The Drag Is Screaming.

You Certainly Do Not Want To Slide Your Fingers Into The Gills, But If You Lift Up The Gill Plate You Can Slide Your Fingers In Right Beside The Fishes Lower Jaw. Using This Method Along With Supporting The Fish From The Under Side Is Probably The Safest Way To Hold One In My Opinion . I See Lots Of People Hold The Fish ...

This is the new record in Canada.Caught on the Winnipeg River,

in Manitoba.

Check this thing out..

This guy , was fishing and caught a 36" Pike -

as he was reeling it in, a 56" Pike tried to eat it!!!!! He brought

them both in on the same net.

Awesome catch - 55lbs-56 inches.
