Well today my bud Hawk and I took his boat and went fishin. First fish was a 15 inch Striper that I caught, then we started hooking up to Crappie, a man and lady that was leaving when we were putting in gave us about 5 dozen minnows and we caught over a 100 crappie, but I only kept 13 of them. It was a beautiful day and the fish were deffinetly on. I must have broke my line off at least 30 times on snags and maybe a few in trees, same went for Hawk. All in all it was a great time and I just got ...

Was back home at 11am with these results, happiness is a full cooler, 41 crappie if you're counting

A few of them about to be cleaned, oh I was not drinking that beer, it was there strictly for a size reference

chasing springtime crappies, typically they are eager to bite if you put in the time to pattern them at this time of year. I usually start my open water fishing within about a week of ice off on my favorite bodies of water. Shallow, dark bottom bays will attract the bugs and minnows and the crappies and sunfish will follow putting on the feedbag before the spawn. A few people have the misconception that the fish are spawning during this early period, because when they clean the fish the females ...

So we all know river channels can be the key to crappie most of the year..My question is how do yall fish the river channel, or I guess how do you find it, diagnose where they are and everything else that pertains to it. Is the only viable way to find the river channel in the lake and follow it is by having a 1000dollar fish finder and all the hot-spot maps without seeing the lake before it was flooded. Just wondering if any one has any pointers as to how they do it now if ya don't have the equipment. ...

I caught my first fish in 2009 tonight. First time I have been fishing in completely open water. I will admit that when it was in the 60s some ice melted along the banks. I was out there pitching jigs and worms along that little bit of water that was not frozen. I started out casting a jig. all the way around the pond with nothing so I switched to a worm. same thing as the jig. Next thing I tried was a small spinner bait (1/4 ounce or 3/. About half way around the pond I casted by a bush on the ...

For those that have never caught a might fin they are one of the hardest fighting fish I have ever caught pound per pound. only topped by spoonbill, obviously bluegill, and maybe carp. Alot of people catch them bass fishing with 10 inch worms, spinner baits, and crankbaits. I'm not rich enough to use 4 and 5 dollar lures to catch fins on because they can, and usually will, tear them up. There are alot like gar. Gar and bowfin are 2 of the 7 species in the world basically unchanged today as they ...

Before this year I had only caught 1 bass and a couple channel cats out of my "bait" pond. I don't think it is quite a bait pond anymore. I know there are two grass carp in there that are huge, alot of bass like the ones in the pictures below, about 50 little channels (around a pound), and I'm not sure how many big channels but there are not very many. The bigger channels are atleast 6 and some would probably go 10. Anyway here are some bass I caught out of there.

I promised a report on my trip Sat, I got to the lake at 6:30 and it was 35° and light winds from SSE. For about the first 2 hrs i couldn't buy a bite. About 9:30 some clouds moved in and the winds switched to from the West and they stated biting. I caught a lot of crappie in the 1 1/2 to 2 lb class and one 2 1/2lbs and one 3lb. Now let me tell you the story of the 3lb one, to begin with we have to go back to the boat landing where I found a pack of Crappie Sliders (black with chartreuse tail) ...

I guess now that I live on the lake and fish as much as I do I can adapt to the changes more quickly and effectively. Started out the day at dawn took a cruise around and didnt see no stripers busting bait so I switched over to bass. I started out throwing zoom flukes and senkos and didnt generate interest so I tried something I never had much luck with in jersey; slow rolling a single blade spinner bait just off the bottom and making contact with the rocks. I made the focus of my attack long ...

Went out today after finishing up chores around the house for 2 hours. Fishing was tough to say the least it was windy as heck and cold. I still managed to catch 2 largemouths and my new personal best spotted bass I say that cause I caught a spotted bass earlier last week that was a tiny bit over 4lbs and this one was a little bigger. The first two pictures are the largemouths and the last picture is the spotted bass.

My brother (Darin) and I went fishing off the city dock in Glenwood tonight using crappie minnows and we pulled in (and released, of course) a bunch of small bass. Then, at 9 O'clock we went over to the docks by the beach to see if we could get a crappie before dark. We didnt but right as we were going to leave and call it a night... my bobber went down and I ended up pulling this guy in. I wish the pic was better but it was getting dark and it was taken using my brothers camera phone...

Went fishing with my bro today on lake Minnewaska. Hooked this bass while jigging for crappies at the marina in Starbuck. I was using a crappie thunder jig. Didn't get any crappies but had a good time pulling this one in. Had to let it go until the opener.
